The Floralis Generica is a large flower-shaped monument which is located at the United Nations Plaza (Plaza de las Naciones Unidas). Constructed with steel and aluminium in 2002, it was a gift to the City by Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano. Prior to 2010, the sculpture would begin the day with its petals open and gradually close them as the evening fell. Due to a technical fault, this feature is no longer operational
