The Notre-Dame de Paris is a gothic-designed, Roman Catholic Church which sits on the island of Ile de la Cité in the River Seine. Standing at 69 metres high (226 feet), the construction of the cathedral began in 1163 during the reign of King Louis the 7th and was completed in 1345. Much of the Cathedral was desecrated in the 1790’s during the French Revolution - and further damaged during the 2nd World War - however the building was restored between 1991 and 2010
