When walking directly beneath the arch of the Arc de Triomphe, you will be presented with several inscriptions and sculptures in the pillar walls and in the ceiling of the arch. The ceiling contains several sculpted roses and the pillars are engraved with the 660 names of the military leaders of the French Revolution and generals who served during the First French Empire. The names that are underlined are those who were kiled in action
