Augusto Ferreira Ramos (1860 – 1939) was the Brazilian engineer responsible for building and operating the first cable car system to transport visitors up to Sugarloaf Mountain. Starting construction in 1910, Mr. Ramos and his team created Brazil’s first ever aerial tram system. As a tribute to him and his work, a statue of Augusto Ramos was sculpted by the famous Brazilian sculptor, Professor Armando Schnoor
