How do you choose a family resort in The Maldives?

We’ve done most of the hard work for you, as we’ve already hand-picked the 10 best Maldives resorts for families. When choosing a resort, there are four key aspects you need to consider… a good kids club (and teens club), a childrens’ pool, babysitting facilities and kids menus at the resort restaurants.

Is Maldives a good place for a family holiday with kids?

Yes. As you will see by the abundance of family-friendly activities in our Maldives travel guide, Maldives is not just a honeymoon destination. Get ready to spot reef sharks, dolphins and stingrays. Go kayaking, parasailing and embark on treasure hunts led by your resort’s kids club.

Is Maldives suitable for toddlers?

Absolutely. Our daughter was 15 months old when she first landed on these Maldivian shores. Although quite young, she was entertained every day by swinging on island swings, building sandcastles, playing in the kids playground at our resort, fish-watching on glass-bottom boats, sting-ray spotting and dolphin watching. Each Maldives resort on our list offers an abundance of kids club activities for children as young as 3 years old. You will need to supervise your child at the kids clubs if they are younger than three.

Which Maldives resorts have waterslides or a waterpark?

Soneva Fushi is the most popular Maldives resort with a kids waterslide. It’s a spiralling red waterslide located at The Den kids club. See the photo below

Which Maldives resorts have the best kids clubs?

All 10 of our hand-picked Maldives family resorts has a kids club (and some have a teens club). Some of the most fun kids club activities in the Maldives are treasure hunts, Maldivian cooking lessons, island bike rides, kids pool parties and movie nights!

Which Maldives resorts have a teens club?

Travelling to The Maldives with teenagers? Resorts such as LUX South Ari Atoll and Centara Grand Island Resort have great teens clubs catering to teenagers up to 17 years old.

Which Maldives resorts offer babysitting?

All 10 of our hand-picked Maldives family resorts offer a babysitting service, ranging from $15 USD per hour (at Six Senses Laamu) to $25 USD per hour (at Soneva Fushi).

Can kids stay in Maldives overwater villas?

Yes and no. This depends on the age of your child, as most Maldives resorts have imposed an age-restriction on their overwater bungalows and villas (for obvious safety reasons). Each resort has its own policy, but the minimum age is usually 6 years old and parents may be required to sign a waiver form.

What are the best Maldives resorts for families with kids?

We’ve hand-picked 10 of the very best kid-friendly Maldives resorts for families, so take your pick! We’ve covered the kids clubs, teens clubs and more. Personally, we had a whale of a time as a family of three at Bandos Maldives as you’ll see in our video below.

These Playful Swings Are Dotted All Around Bandos Maldives Island – Our lil Girl Loved Them!

When our daughter was just 15 months old, we stayed at the Bandos Maldives resort. We felt at home as soon as we arrived on the island, following a short 15-minute speedboat ride from the airport. In addition to us all enjoying the adults pool, the children’s pool and the beach, our daughter had a blast on Bandos’ glass-bottom boat and at their Kokko Kids Club (open from 8am to 5pm). The kids club is equipped with an outdoor adventure playground and indoor playrooms; and it also offers interactive activities such as cooking lessons and treasure hunts. We found so many aspects of this resort to be family-focused; from the restaurants’ waiters always bringing us a high chair and kids cutlery, to the hotel staff encouraging us as a family to take a guided tour of Malé and a sunset dolphin cruise – which we loved!

If you really want to see how much fun we had at Bandos Maldives as a family of three, just watch this short video…

As you can see, we couldn’t have asked for a more family-oriented, child-friendly resort in the Maldives 🙂
